General

General Solar Questions

How does solar energy work?
Solar panels (photovoltaic cells) absorb sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts this into alternating current (AC) — the same type your home uses. Excess electricity can be stored in batteries (off-grid / hybrid) or fed back to the national grid (on-grid with net metering).
Is solar energy suitable for Pakistan's climate?
Yes — Pakistan is one of the best countries in the world for solar energy. Most regions receive 8–10 hours of sunlight per day on average, which is significantly higher than European countries where solar is already mainstream. Even on cloudy days, modern panels continue to generate electricity at reduced capacity.
How many solar panels do I need for my home?
The number of panels depends on your electricity consumption, roof space, and the system size. As a rough guide: a 5 kW system typically requires 10–14 panels and suits a monthly bill of Rs. 15,000–25,000. Our engineers will assess your actual load and recommend the exact configuration — free of charge. You can also use our Solar Load Calculator.
What solar panel and inverter brands does Asaan Solar use?
Asaan Solar supplies high-efficiency panels and inverters from globally recognised manufacturers, including brands approved under AEDB and SBP solar financing guidelines. We recommend monocrystalline PERC panels for maximum efficiency. Specific brand options are shared during your free quotation — we always match the brand to your budget and requirements.

System Types

On-Grid, Off-Grid & Hybrid Systems

What is the difference between on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems?
On-Grid: Connected to the national grid. Eliminates your electricity bill during the day. Shuts off during load shedding (no battery). Best for areas with minimal outages.

Off-Grid: Fully independent — runs on solar panels and batteries. No grid connection required. Ideal for remote areas or locations with severe load shedding.

Hybrid: Connected to the grid AND has a battery backup. Gives you the best of both — use solar during the day, battery during load shedding, grid as backup. Most popular in Pakistan.
Which solar system is best for areas with frequent load shedding?
A hybrid solar system is the ideal choice for areas with frequent load shedding in Pakistan. It operates during load shedding using stored battery power, while also saving you money on regular electricity bills when the grid is available. Off-grid systems are recommended only for areas with no grid connection at all.
Can I add a battery backup to my existing on-grid system?
Yes, in most cases. If your existing inverter supports hybrid operation, a battery bank can be added. If not, an inverter upgrade is needed. Asaan Solar's technical team will assess your existing setup and advise the most cost-effective upgrade path — contact us for a free evaluation.
How long do solar batteries last?
Battery lifespan depends on the type: Lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries typically last 8–12 years and are the most reliable option. Lead-acid batteries last 3–5 years but cost less upfront. We recommend lithium batteries for long-term value. Asaan Solar provides full warranty coverage on all supplied batteries.

Net Metering

Net Metering in Pakistan

What is net metering and how does it work?
Net metering allows solar system owners to feed surplus electricity back to the national grid and earn credits against their electricity bill. When your panels produce more than you consume, the extra units are exported to the grid. Your DISCO (e.g., LESCO, MEPCO, PESCO) credits those units, which offset your nighttime or cloudy-day consumption — reducing or even eliminating your monthly bill.
Who can apply for net metering in Pakistan?
Both domestic and commercial consumers can apply for net metering under NEPRA regulations (SRO 892(I)/2015). Requirements include: a solar system of at least 1 kW, a three-phase grid connection, and registration with your local DISCO. Asaan Solar is AEDB-authorised and manages the complete application on your behalf.
How long does the net metering approval process take?
The net metering process typically takes 4–8 weeks after the solar system is installed, depending on your DISCO and the completeness of documentation. Asaan Solar prepares and submits all paperwork, coordinates with NEPRA and your local DISCO, and follows up on your behalf until the bi-directional meter is installed and activated.
Does Asaan Solar handle the entire net metering process?
Yes — completely. We manage everything from system installation and AEDB-compliant documentation to NEPRA licensing, DISCO coordination, and bi-directional meter activation. You do not need to visit any government office or submit paperwork yourself. This is included as part of our end-to-end service.

Cost & Pricing

Solar System Cost & Return on Investment

How much does a solar system cost in Pakistan?
Prices vary depending on system size, brand, and type. As a general guide in 2025:

3 kW On-Grid: Rs. 4.5 – 6 Lakh  |  5 kW Hybrid: Rs. 8 – 12 Lakh  |  10 kW Hybrid: Rs. 16 – 22 Lakh

Asaan Solar provides detailed, itemised quotations — no hidden charges. Call 0342-94 700 99 for a free quote tailored to your load and budget.
Are there any hidden costs I should be aware of?
No. Asaan Solar provides fully transparent, itemised quotations covering panels, inverter, mounting structure, wiring, installation labour, and net metering documentation fees. There are no surprise charges after you approve the quote. We are a registered, bank-listed company — your investment is fully protected.
What is the payback period for a solar system in Pakistan?
For most homes and businesses in Pakistan, the payback period is 3 to 5 years for on-grid and hybrid systems with net metering. After payback, you enjoy virtually free electricity for the remaining 20+ years of the system's life. Rising electricity tariffs make the payback period shorter every year.
Does installing solar increase my property value?
Yes. Properties with installed solar systems command higher resale and rental value in Pakistan, particularly as electricity costs continue to rise. A documented, registered solar system with net metering is a tangible asset that buyers and tenants increasingly seek.

Installation

Installation Process

How long does a solar system installation take?
A standard residential installation (3–10 kW) typically takes 1 to 2 days once all equipment is on-site. Larger commercial systems may take 3–5 days. After installation, net metering activation takes an additional 4–8 weeks depending on your DISCO.
Do I need to do anything to prepare my home or roof before installation?
Our team will assess your roof during the free site visit. You do not need to make any preparations in advance. We check roof strength, tilt, shading, and available space. If any minor reinforcements are needed, we advise you clearly before starting. Most roofs in Pakistan (flat concrete or mild-pitched) are ready for solar without any modifications.
Do you provide a warranty on installation work?
Yes. Asaan Solar provides a workmanship warranty on all installation work in addition to the manufacturer warranties on panels and inverters. Solar panels typically carry a 25-year performance warranty. Inverters carry a 5–10 year warranty depending on brand. Battery warranties vary from 3 to 10 years.

After-Sales

Maintenance & After-Sales Support

How long do solar panels last?
Quality solar panels are designed to last 25–30 years. They come with a 25-year linear performance warranty, guaranteeing at least 80% output at year 25. Panel degradation is very gradual — typically 0.5% per year — meaning your system stays highly productive for decades.
How much maintenance does a solar system require?
Solar systems require very minimal maintenance. The main task is panel cleaning — dust and bird droppings reduce output, so panels should be cleaned every 4–6 weeks, especially during dry summers. Inverters and wiring should be checked annually by a technician. Asaan Solar offers scheduled maintenance visits for all our customers.
Who do I contact if my system has a technical problem?
Contact our dedicated after-sales team directly on 0319-33 72 700 or WhatsApp us at the same number. We respond promptly and dispatch a technician to your site when needed. Asaan Solar customers always receive priority support.
Does my solar system need to be registered or certified after installation?
For net metering, your system must be registered with NEPRA and your local DISCO — Asaan Solar handles this entirely. For off-grid systems, no registration is required. All our installations comply with AEDB safety standards, and we provide full documentation including system specifications, warranty cards, and installation certificates.
